Heat/Sound Shields
I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can get heat/sound shielding for my 82 240D for a reasonable price? The dealership wants something over $300 for them and fastlane wants about the same. I saw some rolls of it over at JC Whitney's site, is that the best way to go? There aren't any in my car right now & I'd like to quiet it up some in the cab.

What heat shield/sound insulation are you talking about for $300?
If you mean the hood pad, that is under $60 from the local dealer, but the glue and cleaner were another $30. That one came with a heat shield section, while the one we were replacing as it was disintegrating, didn't. Good thread with instructions citing the glue and method for removing the old one and installing the new one a few months back. Good luck, Jim

That was for the hood pad and the firewall pads. I just checked my email & FastLane wanted $340 for all of them! $60 sounds Much better, even the hood pad should quiet things down some.
