The Warden-

I got Pine Green (254) for your car color or light brown leather (254). There is a number missing somewhere.

MB Tex codes are numbers between 101 and 178, leather is between 201 and 278.

Other numbers are:

410 - Sunroof
440 - Cruise Control
451 - RPM gauge
467 - Instrument cluster in English, Central locking
491 - US version
504 - right electric side mirror
519 - Mexico Grand Prix radio
531 - Automatic antenna
551 - Anti-theft (Rare!)
588 - ACC and electric windows.

I almost bought a 1985 300CD that had leather. It was the burgundy color with palomino leather. Really sweet looking. It had an anti-theft factory installed. Yours is the only other one I've ever seen with that. I think you must have leather. I didn't buy the CD because at the last minute I found out it was a salvage title.

Craig

Oh yeah, look for one of these numbers on the metal plate:

312 labrador blue
900 deep blue
904 midnight blue
934 china blue
940 marine blue
945 lapis blue
949 cascade blue

It's not Nautical Blue, that's what I had on my sold 300CD. Pics are on my web site.

OK, this is kind of strange. You have a 876 (Cypress Green) and a 877 (Blue Green), but those are both metallic colors. You said it wasn't metallic, right?

If that was to me, I guess I do have a metallic paint.

I'm posting a pic of my car's exterior and interior. Maybe this will help.

And it's interesting tha thte anti-theft option was rare. Going by the manual, I had assumed that it was a standard option in '85 cars. Regardless, if you look at the "Identify this Box!" thread I started, I think that has something to do with it...

Here's the front seat, although I'm not sure how much is visible of the seats themselves...

Also, if I read that page correctly, it looks like the 876 code is for the rear seat light. It's interesting that I have the fold-down rear armrest, but that option code doesn't appear anywhere...

It's got to be mixed in there somewhere.

If it was MB-Tex it will be a 101 to 178.

Oh, that's leather, for sure. And that color is common for those years. I didn't see the thread but the CD I looked at had a box by the firewall with a plunger switch the was pushed down when the hood was closed.

I think I've got that plunger. Definitely sounds familiar.

And, after what you've said, I just told a buddy of mine and he said it's definitely leather...he was actually surprised that I didn't know. I'll be durned, I own a car with leather...too bad the front seats and armrest are in such bad condition...

I used to own an 85 300SD that had the factory antitheft sytem...but I didn;t know you could get that on the 123's of the same period...and I have never seen leather in a 123.....but all I remember seeing are diesel models and I know that there was a higher proportion of tex in the diesl cars than in the gasoline cars.
My 85 SD had tex..as did the 92 300D

You can order complete leather replacement seat covers from GAHH. I think they are about $350 each. Kind of expensive.

For those who want to find out the exterior/interior colors of their MB, just email the VIN to the MB Classic Center at classicparts@mbusa.com. That's what I did and they responed very quickly.

Our 84 300TD has navy leather and 3 headrests for the rear seat. My previous 81 300SD was navy/nautical blue over parchment leather. But yes, MOST 123's and 126 turbodiesels are Tex.
