If it screws off and is on the side of the block, yes it would be the block heater. Lucky for you it is already installed because if it wasnt good luck getting the plug out.
I cant get mine out. Austin

OM603 block electrical connector?
On the back end passenger side of my US 603.961 there's a plastic cap fitted over a ~3cm electrical connetor. What is this connector? Is it part of a block heater?
Thanks, Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL |

I believe that the block heaters on the 603 engines are located on the passenger side toward the front of the block. They were installed as standard equipment but came without a cord. Those the dealer supplied when you bought the car if you needed/asked for it. It should be a brass plug about an inch across with an obvious connector for the cord to plug into.

If a block heater is installed on a 1981 300SD, where would the electrical connector or plug for it be?
(Planning ahead, it is brutally hot and humid here right now! Diesel runs much better than my gasoline engines in this weather...) |

I one day discovered my block heater plug in front of the radiator near the horns. I was nosin around and found that plug, I was wondering if it had a block heater at the time, and that answered my question.
