w123 euro headlights- new Bosch

Hi all , I am in Ecuador, South America.
I just came back from a rain forest tour.

All the w123 cars here have euro headlights, so I looked up a parts shop.

$215 plus 12 percent tax USD each for Bosch euro headlight assemblies.
Bulbs not included. These are the mono-block rectangular ones,
not the euro round reflector type.

Some guy can get Japanese made non- OEM (DEPO brand) for $150 each plus tax. Claims they look exactly like the Bosch.($300 the pair plus tax)

I was trying to locate used ones but there are no junk yards here. These autos are rebuilt and put to use.

I leave Sunday and return in October.
Maybe I will find some later!

Any opinions?

Denis

Can you get a set of W124 headlights? I'm in the Bay Area and can pick them up from you. How much would that cost?

I bought my Euro Lights off a German Market vehicle from a junkyard in England (can't remember the name) that I found searching Yahoo. I think all together with shipping I paid less than $200.

Euro Lights

unkl300d,

Keep us posted on the euro headlights. Maybe you can find the Japanese supplier. At $150.00 we could all afford to go for them. You'll notice I'm in the Bay Area too and you might find our 4 speed manual 300DTs interesting.

IŽll be back!!! --McCarthur

O.K. you guys. I just read this post response today, but I leave Sunday morning.
However, I will return to Ecuador in mid October.
I will be in touch with my cousin in law
whose friend has access to the Japanese copies.
I am sure W124 headlights are available in Bosch as well as the w123 headlights. Since the w123 lights cost $215 approx. per side, I imagine the w124 headlights will cost same or a bit more.

I will get more info later via my cuz and maybe in October
I can swing a couple of sets assuming I have luggage space.

I}ll keep posting on this subject.

light my fire

Just read a post in the car parts section.
www.importvision.com sells DEPO brand w124
euros for $249.
Cheaper than in Ecuador.

Don't know f they can get w123 lights.

Good Luck.
