Any experience with the Sound Shield by PSB Products?

I'd be the last one to say that the clatter of Liesl the Diesel is disturbing to me but I would like to hear more of my CD's while on trips so I thought I'd ask if anybody has any experience with this product?
Is it a forum member who has devised this product?
My hood pad is toast and was removed a few weeks ago: as for noise, which would you install first? A sound shield or a new hood pad?
Thanks,
-shawn

I purchased one of the sound shields off of Ebay. I can tell a difference, not a big difference, but a noticeable one. I think the sound shield would prevent more noise from entering the cabin than a hood pad- just my opinion.

What is this sound shield? Is it the firewall padding? My 240D doesn't have the hood pad or firewall padding & one of these days I want to put them back in.

The Sound Shield I purchased slips in between the engine and firewall. It is not original equipment, but I was desperate to do anything that would reduce engine noise from entering the cabin. I love the purr of a Mecredes diesel, but at 75 miles an hour in the 240D I can barely hear the radio. I decided to only drive the car around town and not on expressways

I made my own hood pad from quilted fiberglass. Search the archives for a vendor. Anyway the hood pad made a huge difference in noise. As far as killing engine noise so I can listen to the stereo, 480 watts of power plus 1000w of sub woofer power will overpower any diesel noise no matter what the speed. Trust me on that:D
