Good deal on an 87 300D

I saw this a few days ago right when it was listed, I had to stop my itchy "buy it now" finger from buying it. I was sure it would be sold already.

Only flaw I can see is the odometer don't work. Looks like a nice example.

You're right, its not bad looking.

I should point out somebody butchered the front with a Euro headlight installation. Looks like they tried drilling several holes to position the headlight wipers and then just gave up.

Also the seat border cords are unusually cracked and wavy - not sure what this means but I bet CarFax would show its been in a hot weather state.

There is also something else going on, evidenced by the statement "I drove the car several days....." Dealer? Selling for a friend? Stolen?

Always review the title before handing over a check, and verify the VIN on the title matches the car's VIN. It's hard to slow down when you're closing a deal but this is something to be careful about.

There was a much nicer one, with a 6-month old tranny, on eBay about 2 weeks ago. It sold for $2650. And it was blue/gray, instead of yuck/yuck. This one looks worn, and with the busted odo who knows what the mileage is! I'd say $3k would be max, and then only if it runs REALLY well and everything works (AC, cruise, ACC vents, etc.)

Just my $0.02... :p

Compared to some of the interiors I see, this thing is mint.

Maybe cars in the northeast are in worse shape than out west. Check out photos of my 87 interior at the URL below. I have 236kmi on the clock (for real - odometer works on mine!):

My other car isn't quite as nice inside, but still MUCH better than the one on eBay. I need to clean it up before taking photos though.

I agree with GSXer that interior is somewhat rough...look at the seats and the faded wood...and I would bet the seat padding is not in good shape either...I would say thats a $2500 car at best with the odometer issue and the condition its in ..maybe even less

Half your interior is out of a 90's 124, how can you compare that to an 87 300D.

The 300D on ebay isn't in bad shape interior wise, it's quite nice, IMO.

No, only the dash is new. My old dash was not cracked and looked fine except it didn't have wood. Yes, the steering wheel and center box are from a later car, but the seats, armrest, carpet, door panels, pockets, etc are all original 1987 pieces. So yes I will comare it to the eBay 87!

My other '87 has Palomino Tex and is bone stock inside except for the steering wheel, and it still looks a lot better than the one on eBay. Maybe you're just not used to seeing cars that are cared for...?
