William, thanks. How much did you pay for them? And where did you get them. I'm going to do some shopping around the tire places near me to see who all carries yokos, and how much for them and a balance.

That you were able to run that Chevette so many miles is nothing short of a miracle. Must speak well of the diesels though. I seldom see any Chevettes around anymore and haven't for a few. They were a real piece of work.
My guess is the engine still pulls along a rather decayed body. Hmm. Must be an analogy in there somewhere.

Question

I must have missed that...there was a Chevette diesel? Just wondering, what engine is it?

The chevette has a 1.8 L Isuzu now with 388 K. The body is rough it has been totalled twice. Once in a front end crash and once by golf ball sized hail. Looks like someone beat it with a rubber hammer. I had to put a new shock tower in it recently, and replaced the seats with ones from a grand am. a little rust underneath and on the rocker panel, and paint is almost through every where.

Go for it Nate! For me even T4 's have to much sidewall flex. I'm going for either H4's or Dunlops SP Sport A2- very happy with that one. My ex-brother in law had a diesel Tercel (1988). had 250k mi on it and still going strong, about as quick as my 190D (0-60 mph in 17 seconds-factory spec).

190D, I got them at Americas Tire in Eugene OR, out the door static balanced and mounted for $288.00 in 205 65 15 for an eighty thousand mile tire with a harder rubber compound they seem to to handle as well as the Rainforce michilens on my other 126.... William Rogers......

Well since I use 185 70R 14s my price will be lower per tire of course. My sister just paid 500 for a set of 4 michelins (exactly what was on her car stock, it's a 2002 jetta 1.8T) because she was vandalized by some punk kids that saw fit to let her know how mad they were that they got Fs in her summer school class she taught! And comparing michelins and yokos on the tire rack, michelins are over double the price of yokos and don't get as good of ratings. So it's just common sense to go with the yokohamas. Thanks for the help William. I'm about to call my local shop and schedule an oil change, brake system flush, and look into if they can get me these tires and for what price.

Just my two cents. I am running GoodYear Aquatread 3's 205/70/14 and they are great. 20K on them and they look like new. Paided 500 ish. Had michilins when I got it absolutely hated them.

I have driven quite a few cars and I would have to say that my 240D has the best 60 to 0 time of any car I have owned.
