valves clearance
Hi everyone,
Now (instead of sent my car at the mercedes dealership, and pay a bill ...) I plan to do this job by myself since it doesn't seem to be very complicated. But in order to do this job, special bended wrenches are required and I'm wondering where can I find that ? I've tried on the fastlane bud i've found nothing so far. So is there someone to help me ?

I do the job with a straight handle 12mm open end wrench and a modified open end 14mm wrench.
Modification = ground off 1/2 of the width of the 14mm wrench from open end to halfway up handle. Then, heated handle 1/4 of the way up from open end. Gently bent to 45 degrees. Immediatley immersed in cold water to temper the steel. Used cheap wrench. Figured the steel would be of lesser quality and easier to manipulate (plus, if I busted it, not as much of a heartbreak). On occasion I use a pair of needle nose vise-grips to keep the top nut from spinning. Piece of cake. |

Thank you,
I've checked on samstagsales.com the set of three wrenches for valves adjustement. They seems to be perfect, except the price which is pretty expensive : 75$. What is the 3rd wrench for ? To prevent the cap on the top of the valve spring to move ?

Yes, the third wrench holds the cap on the valve springs which has a tang in its center which fits into a groove in the valve stem... thus, holding it keeps the valve from trying to rotate with the top nut.
