Anyone with a manual who can give me some torque specs?
Hi,
I would really appreciate it if someone out there can give me the torque specs for the following things. -valve cover bolts -bolts that hold the valvetrain to the head -transmission drain pan bolt -transmission pan bolts -torque converter drain plug Thanks! Greg '84 300D |
Greg:
Unsure what that first one is you are asking. Valve cover bolts I'd go 10nm, it's very lightly torqued. The trans pan itself is also 10nm, well, actually it's 8nm, if your wrench will go that low, 10 works fine for me. the trans drain plug and torque converter drain plug are both 14nm. There are 2 different seals, the aluminum one id for the torque converter, the copper one is for the trans pan drain. Gilly |
When I said "bolts that hold the valvetrain to the head" I meant the 8mm hex bolts that hold the rocker arm assembly to the head. I had removed the rocker arms last summer when I replaced the valve seals, and I thought I should check the torque on them since I will have the valve cover off to adjust the valves.
