Proud owner of an Optima Red Top in my 87 TD . It is awesome. My friend tried them a couple years ago and says they are awesome for diesels. Crank and Crank and you can leave the radio on all day and not kill the battery. Duralast batteries get independable after a a couple years. I exchanged my 2 year old duralast under warranty and they put the credit toward an Optima at Autozone. They cost 179.99 now days. Ohhh wee.

Since I used to work for JCI, I bought a couple for the corporate rate. I just stuck one in the E300 last weekend.

34R fits perfect with the little snap on plastic adapters the battery comes with.

its not a benz but it is battery related. I have two 900 cca interstates in my chevy k1500 with a 160 amp alt and a 9000 lb winch and with the engine off i can run my winch for quite a long time and the truck still cranks like nothing happened. I have had them for quite a while and i use my winch ALOT and have had zero failures (besides cables... now run syn rope and LOVE IT!). I actually got to use the winch today i backed down into some quick sand on a river sand bar and... bye bye 33's . So after winching myself about the length of a football field through water soaked sand was still reading 12.5-13 ish volts under load this lattest experience is just another notch in my interstate batteries belts. another .02 for the group.

Ive had good luck with the big autozone batteries. I know a lot of other folks here have also. I am not sure of the cost of them now but I would expect in the 70 to 80 range. I've been using them for at least 10 years with no premature failures I can remember. I have seven vehicles licensed and running at the present.
