Fuel Filter?
Hello Everyone,
Thanks for your input on my oil change question. I am going to order my oil filters and I thought it would be wise to order new fuel filters since I don't know how old they are. While I was looking on FastLane for fuel filters I notice they come with either a 01-092-05-01 or a 01-092-04-01 What are those? Also any thoughts on a good brand of fuel filter or are the local Purolator ones any good? Thanks again

DieselGent,
Just a guess, but the difference between a 001 092 05 01 and a 001 092 04 01 are probably inconsequential. Maybe they changed it to the 05 when they changed suppliers? Anyway, you'll notice that if you select either of them on FastLane you are taken to a page that has a number of filters. The filter choices are the same regardless of whether you chose the 04 or the 05 so you can pretty much rest assured they are interchangeable. Any of the filters listed would be fine but the Bosch, Hengst or Mann would be my choice, probably in that order. The Purolator filter for this application, if I remember correctly, is actually manufactured for them by someone else. I believe the last one I saw said it was manufactured in Africa, not sure by whom. It, too, is probably fine and in a pinch I wouldn't hesitate to use it but it wouldn't necessarily be my brand of choice. If you're eager to change the filter now find your local Baldwin filter retailer and get a Baldwin BF1056. Of the easy-to-find local variety of filters Baldwin probably ranks among the best. If you have the time and want to stay with the OEM suppliers you can order from FastLane. |
