Swinging door...
I have a gap between the weatherstripping on my driver's side door frame and the car body (the A pillar? NOT the one with the door hinge, but the latch side). I installed new weatherstripping on both front doors a month or two ago, and I'm pretty sure this is not the cause. Additionally, the driver's side door is more difficult to close and based on some slight paint flaking on the hinge nuts, looks like it's been adjusted in the past. I fiddled with the door hinges trying to adjust out the tension that necessitates a good slam to close the door and engage the lock. Still no improvement. Can anyone recommend a means of fixing this, short of visiting a trim shop?
Thanks to all, Joel

Has the car ever been hit on that side? Doors are really hard to get back to perfect if the center pillar has been hit sometime in the cars history. You may need to supplement the seal with a thinner one on the other side if all other adjustments fail.

Joel:
The little conical post the latch fits over has to be adjusted, too, to fit the latch side of the door in properly. Best done with the special tool to give the correct door position (as in have a body shop or dealer do it, not worth buying the tool for). Also, make sure the post and hole are clean and not greased (makes dirt stick, use only the MB dry lubricant or graphite), and that the actual latch in the door is properly lubricated (white lithium grease), or it will not flip over properly.
