Whats this?

Sorry for the poor quality of the picture due to my digital not having a flash. But should at least help more than words. There looks to be a vacume connection on this part with nothing connected to it and wondering if it missing is affecting my accelaration performance. It is just above the injector pump on the drivers side of my '79 240D. If a vacume tube is to be connected to this, where does the other end go?

I am refering to the round item in the middle of the picture. The shiny stub coming out the bottom is the connection I am referring to.

Nice Ride!

Hey PDXMan,

Nice ride you found there. I've been watching the paper from over here in Bend and didn't see that one. Wife would kill me anyway since it's red.

Your pic above is I believe, the ALDA, which is your altitude compensator for the Injection Pump. Don't mess with it and it won't mess with you...

If you get over the big hill drop me a personal mssg via the forum here and maybe we can hook up and compare notes...

Good luck!

As Fisherman said, nothing connects to that port.

As far as your missing acceleration, what acceleration? A 240D never had any to begin with. In spite of that, they are possibly the best cars ever built in the world for their time.

It would be good to drive another 240D like yours to see if yours is really down on power, or if you just haven't gotten used to it yet.

If it is down on power, we can help you through it with some patience and a little work.

Good luck,

Like LarryBible says, acceleration is relative and 220D/240D are a lot slower than your normal gas car. If you can't beat a semi truck then you have a problem. If you're neck and neck with a school bus then you're in the ball park.
