Light assembly question
 

Hey guys been a while, real life been going rather crummy of late, had less time for car issues than I would like.

Yesterday I was rear ended by a bronco, one of those huge ones with the chassis way off the ground on large tires, his bumped smashed my boot up rather badly and also shattered the left tail light bulb (assembly?) area.

Whats the cheapest way to get a light back in there so the car is legal to drive? Money is a big concern at the moment but i also must have the car running for work.

PS: No other problems in the last 4 months, I drove her on a round trip 1000 miles each way, while on holiday this summer and had no problems at all. (Except having my windshield smashed with a stray rock shot off a garbage truck :()

For a temp fix, get 2 small red light fixtures and wire them into the wires that go to your original light assembly. Actually you may need 3 if you have separate brake and turn signal lights so there will be a light each for tail light, brake light and turnsignal.

You can get snap on wiresplices so you don't have to cut or strip the MB wires. You might have to drill holes near the damaged area to mount the lights. These can be filled when the repairs are done.

I hope the Bronco driver pays for all you repairs. Don't forget to keep receipts for the temp parts and add then to any other repair bills.

PGauto may be a good place to try or maybe a local yard may have one cheap. Easy to put in and unlike many other makes, the colored lens seem to hold up well to UV light so an old one should look fine.
