I use Lubro-Moly Diesel Purge roughly twice a year on my 300D. The LM products can be purchased here, BTW.

...and here is a site with good pics and instructions for using diesel purge:

I don't know. I never use cleaners and my DIesels run fine. I've been thinking about trying some cleaners but haven't tryed them yet.

I would like to set up some of controlled experiment where results could be verified. But that is difficult for one person to do. Even if I had an assitant who would add the cleaners when I didn't know about it to eliminate the placebo effect.

Too bad we can't get Consumer Reports to do a controlled test.

Injector cleaner works on Jaguars, no reason it would not on Mercedes. I suspect unless you have a problem with dirt in your fuel, there would probably be little benefit before about 10-12 years of age on the engine. How often depends on how often you have an injector hang up--no placebo effect here, you can hear and feel the difference when the car is at idle.

I use STP injector cleaner on the jag, plus Valvoline or Techron fuel system cleaner 4 times a year or so. Just the fuel system cleaner twice a year on the Cadillac. And Rotella DFA seems to do the job on the Benz, although I have tried STP diesel fuel injector cleaner there too, but have observed no difference. Sometimes I add it if I haven't had the chance to put the Rotella in for a while since the Rotella is supposed to be added to an empty tank, which means I have to have the bottle with me when I fuel up. The STP products get added to full tanks per the instructions, so are a little more convenient.

I use Lubro Moly Diesel Purge twice a year, right before I change my filters. I also use aditives every or every other time I fill up. The brand changes depending on what I have. I tend to use the Power Service aditives.

Where? I have not seen them on FastLane...
If there is a secret link, please let me in.

(I don't really enjoy buying from Performance Products.)

I buy my Diesel Purge at my local foreign auto parts store, I get it for around $5.50 a can. If you have a store like that near you, you might want to try it. As for Fastlane, I also have not been able to find it either. Performance Products has it too, but you don't like buying from them, so I have no more suggestions.

dieseldaddy and 123c:

The Lubro-Moly and Red Line products are not found in FastLane; they are in PartsShop.
