Yeah, but if the engine had been putting out less than factory rated power, an extra 7hp/7% is irrelevant... especially if it's still below stock power levels. Factory power at the rear wheels will be right around 100hp. A few HP either way can be dyno error. Now if it was a 7hp gain on the same dyno, on the same day, that would be interesting...

the om617.952 was 123 brake horsepower..(IIRC)

Correct. Figure 18% loss through the drivetrain and you get ~100rwhp.

The 7% change could be from a number of things- shifting the torque curve, more efficient turbo, 2-stage injectors, #256 nozzles, injection timing, etc.
