rub a dub dub / engine, compartment, hoodliner

Because I've spent so much time and energy on my girl. I need some work on the outside but I might as well clean it up under the hood!!! Any suggestions or warnings as to how to do this and how to do this w/o harming delicate eletrical devices, tempermental bearings and ect. ? The hood guard liner is comming apart in chuncks and looks like my cars got leaparcy. Aparently, for 40 or 50 bucks I can get a fresh new one. That's exciting! yelrah32

p.s
I'm considering gunking it, wraping everything in plastic and being carefull where I point the water...more wiping...then covering the whole engine with something while I scrape all the old (asbestos????) material off with puttyknife or something. We'll, scrape then clean...yelrah32

Search 'tech help' - lots of talk recently about the hood liner. I did mine recently, I couldn't scrape the previous liner off (it's pretty well stuck on there, and I didn't want to damage the metal) so stuck my new one on the remaining residue from the old one - sticks like, well, glue.

my old pad was like crumbling toxic waste

the entire pad ended up fitting into one grocery bag for disposal
