I'm thinking about taking more steps in reducing the cabin noise in my '84 300D. Futile, some of you may say, but I'm determined to have a quieter ride in this car.

To that end, have any of you had experience or bought products from www.psbproducts.com? They manufacture the Sound Shield exclusively for older Benz diesels, and I thought I would ask here before committing to any purchase. Thoughts?

Here's a pic from the site, showing the shield in a 300SD...looks like something you'd put under your sleeping bag while camping...

I worry about putting the one on the actual engine... you see many people saying their cars run on the borderline of too hot... and I wonder what the engine blanket does to the airflow through the radiator...
More firewall/hood noise reduction would seem more prudent... that air has to go somewhere to be able to come through the radiator...... I would sure make sure that my temp guage was working correctly if I added this engine blanket deal...

I thought about purchasing one a few years ago for my car, but I decided that it was not worth the money. I have instead decided to replace the hood pad with a similar acoustical material, which I will do when I get the time.
