Can anyone help me find these parts?
Greetings all.
I need the 4 nuts and bolts that attach the transmission mount to the car. (a 1977 300D) I tried fastlane, partshop, and the dealer to no avail. The little tabs rusted off and unless anyone has any ideas how to get these "darn" things off, I am going to cut them off. Thanks for any help, Scott |

Out with the old - in with the new. Sounds like time to get the grinder and the welding machine out. I would just do like you suggest. Cut the old off and weld on what you need there to secure the tranny.

I just want to find the replacements before I get all grinder crazy... Scott |

Grab the yellow pages and look for your nearest pick-n-pull/u-pull-it yard. You are bound to find at least one w123 body car there.

Didn't mean to make lite of it - Can you get a pic of exactly what you are trying to remove. I would go back to the dealer and get the parts person to let you look at the electronic parts catalog with them to try to find it.

Phil already got me the part numbers, and no suck luck of finding them thus far.
Jay, there are no pick and pulls in Houston that I know of with 123s in them. At least in South Houston where I am. And engatwork, dont worry about, I find it funny too. It is so simple, and yet SO annoying... Scott |

Well, I see you're somewhere in Texas so you can't be more than 800 miles from DFW. Anyway there is a MB (I think many European cars) parts supply somewhere I think actually in Dallas. Sorry I can't give you more info. I know they have this type of stuff, my indy mechanic was able to get the bolts (new) to hold my ac compressor on from them. I think it's a place that supplies dealerships as well with odd parts. If you can get a Dallas yellow pages or maybe even ask a service manager you might be in luck. Once again sorry I can't think of the place's name.

Guys,
I have had good luck with these guys. http://www.silverstarrecycling.com/ They seem to have a pretty large MB inventory and are pretty responsive. Maybe they can help. Chuck |

RE: Transmission Mount Hardware
Scott,
Coincidentally, I just ordered these parts today from a dealer in Massachusetts. However, I'm not certain that they will be correct until I actually see them. They are due in on Tuesday. I'll let you know if they are the right ones. My 85 300D had a broken speed nut on the left rear of th transmission mount and I was able to get it out by bending the outer piece out of the way with pliers and inserting a medium bladed flat screwdriver into the slot to jam the nut while I backed the bolt out with the ratchet. I had exactly the same one break on the parts car that I took my engine/trans from. I was going to try to lube the others and replace that one with someting similar, but I am too afraid that another one will break. This dealer seemed to be able to get them. They are: Smith Motor Sales, Haverhill, MA, (978)372-2552. Good luck! |

Thanks Bill and Jeff.
I have my list of phone numbers, so I will tell you all what I find. Bill, if you remember the name of that place by Hobby, please send it to me. I have looked today and could not find a name or a number. It will soon be grinder time Regards, Scott Last edited by PiP; 10-05-2002 at 12:01 AM. |
