Is this possible?

Hi again,
I haven't posed to the forum since my first post but have been watching and reading and have a question that maybe will sound a little "weird"?
Well here is it is it possible to install the newer MB seats in an older let's say '79 300D? I spoke with a friend of mine that's a German used car dealer in Germany and he looked at me like I was crazy (well I might be a little crazy I don't know)? He told me that if I was to take out the mounting bracket for the seats and have newer mounting brackets welded in their place that this would sacrifice the integrity and damage the structural integrity of the floor boards where the new brackets would be welded in, I am not sure about this but I don't think that the electrical system of the '79 300D would support the electrical demands of the electrical seats so I would have to find a pair of manual ones that would what do you's think about this possible or not possible?
Just wanted to thank you's for the help with the vacuum system problem just wanted to report that the vacuum pump has been rebuilt, fuel filters and oil fiter have been changed along with the air filter after all this the cruise control now works and the air-conditioner is working great.

Hogleg:

When you say "newer," how much newer are you talking about? Your '79 300D is a W123 chassis, and that chassis was around until 1985. If you're simply looking for seats that are in better condition, then you might want to look in the salvage yards. However, since you mention electrical seats, then you are presumably talking about much newer types. To fit electrical seats on a chassis that does not support much of ANYTHING electrical may be problematic, not to mention the mounting system differences.

I have a 1984 300D, but its seats came from a 1981 model, and they fit fine. I think the mounting brackets are the same throughout the model years, with only subtle differences between the seats themselves.
