I want cruise in 300DT AT to manual conversion.
Before I go thru the wiring diagrams, I'm curious if anyone here has installed a 240D manual cruise control amp. and actuator in an automatic.
I have recently replaced the failed AT in my '84 300DT with a 4-speed box from a 240D. The donor car included a working cruise control which I would like to put in my project car. I noticed that the 240 amp has fewer connector pins. Any ideas before I hit the books? |

Great Job! I can't think of a better modification to a 300D than to get rid of the stupid automatic transmission.
I'm sorry I can't help with the CC question. Is it the 300D wiring harness that has too few pins? Good luck, |

I changed my 240D from automatic to manual about four years ago and just continued to use the same cruise control. Works just fine. The only difference is that the crusie/accelerator doesn't shut itself off when the clutch is depressed, but how often do you put the clutch in when going 50 or so with the cruise on anyway? I'm sure you can get the asnwer from Bob Beckman of Beckman Technologies. He rebuilds them. 800-742-1021.

My original 300DT cruise is shot; that is why I intend on using the MT cruise from my 240D part car. I'll try Beckman...

Free cruise control
dlzdog,
I've a box with all kinds of cruise controls that I've pulled out of 240D and 300DTs. If you'll send me the part number, I'll look through the box and see what I have. If I have one and you want it, I'll give it to you for free for the postage. I always chuck the cruise controls, figure if I can't press the pedal I shouldn't be driving. When you were raised driving Model "A" Fords, one learns to appreciate the basic things since they seldom have enough parts to betray you big time. We've just about got all the parts together to put a 240 4 speed in the intercooled "Super Diesel". Ben www.reproduce100s.com |
