Hello,

is this worth buying - let me know
This is posted on e-bay, the bids end in about 24 hours. I live in state, so could go see, if had too but TIME IS RUNNING OUT.

Need people in the know to tell me what they think about this car.

1982 300SD 99,000 miles

here is the link

Thanks, Dave

Link doesn't work. But that low of mileage it must have been garaged and pampered its whole life. Based from the mileage I'm willing to bet it's a sweet one.

Try this link, this one should work.

This car looks like it came from Texas, and it looks like it might be a good one.

Check the seller's feedback! The car was sold on Oct. 11th. for $4550 and that buyer said it was misrepresented and did not complete the sale. I'd be at least cautious.

Yea, the buyer used the words "Stay Away".

I had bought something from a seller once with one or two bad comments (they weren't horrible, but negative), and I never got my stuff!! So from that point on, if I saw even one little negative comment, it's a no go.

Goodluck.

1. The car was repainted (poorly). They painted right over the rear license plate bracket. Looks like a $399 Maaco special.
2. The interior was poorly re-upholstered (look at the front passenger seat and front drivers seat bolster)
3. Seller has bad feedback about THIS CAR
4. I don't think a 99,000 mile Benz would need to be repainted and have the interior re-upholstered, so I am leary that the real mileage is 99K.

STAY AWAY

You could always email the "failed" buyer and see what he found that caused him him to shy away from it. It is not a bad looking car but I wonder why someone in Fla is selling a Tx "estate sale" car??? Just the negative feedback alone would make me have to see this one prior to making a committment on it.

That is the kind of car that will give MBz Diesel a bad name. Be afraid, be very afraid...

NADA book value MAYBE...

I have seen that my 240D (due to recent accident) was $950 Blue Blook, but the repair shop said it was almost $3,000 NADA. go figger.

if the car spent 15 years or more in 100 degree Texas sun even if it had 30K you would see a lot of sun damage had the car not spent most of its life garaged

when I bought my 85 SD many years ago..the dealership said the owner had stated that the car had been garaged all eight years he had owned and was parked in a parking garage all day...the car was silver and the pristine orginal paint was flawless....and as many of you may know silver is probably the worst color to have in Texas(besides red)...most cars(even benz) after about 6-7 years paint will start to fade and dash starts to fade, then crack
..but I would say this car has been repainted and reupholstered(poorly) and as for the $9200 NADA...
who are they kidding..?....lol

The VIN number is invalid... or maybe it's not in Carfax's database?

NADA high retail is just under $6000, Kelly Blue Book retail is closer to $5000. It looks like someone paid $4,450.00 for it. I find it funny that the person lies about the NADA value then gives the link to the site. Oh wait, I looked in the wrong area, here is where the seller got the $9,200 figure. http://www.nadaguides.com/Values/ValueReport.asp?UserID=062CF728E02&DID=37550&Type=IM&GCode=CC&wPg=1107&wSec=2&Com=0050&Year=1982&Model=00018819

If I get my value from the same area, I guess my 1979 300CD is worth $8100.
