Interesting 300SD..

Factory Orange on Orange. Yes, that is an orange interior, I've never seen it before.

I've actually seen a 300TD in that color. Quite weird...

OTOH, my first car was a '74 Bug that looked to be much the same color. The paperwork I had (dating to when the car was new) described the car as being red. I wonder if the people who painted these cars were going colorblind or if the color may have faded from red to what it is now.

There was an orange on orange 1979 300SD (older style) for sale on a used car lot near my place last year. In very nice shape - I'm sure it was MBTex - which I didn't know was available in a S-class. Outside had typical wear (still nice) but the inside was just about perfect.

MBTex sure is tough stuff.

wow

i think that color is soooo cool. that rocks! i mean.. how unusual. today, that color would be hip as ever if anyone were brave enough to buy it for their car. and here mercedes is having it on an old benz.

my dad's old BMW 2002 was inca orange with black leather.

i mean really... this is a cool color. just beautiful.

Worked with a guy a few years back that decided one day he was going to be an Auto Body genius. His first project was an old Camaro.
He worked and sanded and applied muck to the car, and then went down to the Auto Body Paint supply and bought a can of their best Crimson Red laquer.
You guessed it, came out looking like a Halloween pumpkin. I think he gave up on painting for a while.

I like the color, it's similar to the Orange that my Blazer is painted.

Nice color on some cars ... BMW 2002 (the first 2002 I ever saw was orange and as a 15 yr old I loved it!). I'd imagine that W123's look classic with that color but the W126 has a more modern body than the W123 in my opinion so it does look kinda weird!

hehehehe... orange interior :p

Here is the "orange" W123 - this paint job looks very good on the W123.

For those of us old enough to remember, there was a time in the early seventies when it was "hip" to have a wild colored car. I remember lots of orange, lime green and purple cars (remember Plymouth's "Plum Crazy" color?) It tended to be mostly foreign or high performance cars and was a sure way to prove to your neighbors you weren't square. BTW, I think the interior on the benz here isn't orange, it's more of a chestnut brown color that looks kinda orange. It also may be a bit like the Pink/Palomino I have on some faded areas on my wagon, faded to a more pumpkin hue.

When I went to look for my diesel and looked at that 82' sd, that's the reason i did not buy it. That dark interior was just to gloomy for me.
