I had the pleasure of driving a 99' E300Dt that had been
"tweeked" by BRABUS with a different turbo, exhaust, boost controller, and new IFI controller. She smoked em'.
The speedo was pegged at 160MPH and we still had a few rev's
left. My passenger stopwatched the 0-60 at around 6.7 sec.
Man, that was a cool car. It even still got 20mpg at 90+.
Maybe the new E320CDI will be as quick with a few minor adjustments.

I feel that it is incumbent upon myself to issue the following caveat:
Pilot the 116 if and only if you have room in your heart and your wallet to fall for an old broad that is no respecter of men or their conditions. When I was a kid growing up in Las Vegas, the popular mantra was "only gamble what you can afford to loose." This car may require a lot from you (then again, it may not) but she will make the most subtle and nuanced suggestions that you be true to her and no other. Beguiling. I have no explanation for it. I look at the thing and think that it is a bit plain and at best a handsome machine, but once in the driver's seat I'm a goner. So, when you are lying in bed late at night, staring at the ceiling with images of new chrome bumper eyebrows dancing in your head, these words may haunt you. But at least you will know that you are not alone.

Other than that I'd give 116 that's for sale a test ride. What can it hurt?...

Angel,

I think I saw the W116 300SD you're talking about. It was in the paper. I called but couldn't get a follow up. If the right W116 300SD comes around (gotta be 904 Navy Blue with Palomino interior) which is in nice condition, I'm going to jump on it for sure. A friend has two W123 300Ds for sale in the Enquirer. They're both nice cars, one is black and one is grey. The grey car is a Florida one-owner specimen and is cherry. The black one is nice but a tad rough around the edges but nothing out of the ordinary for a 1985 300D that has been used regularly.
