123 Headliner Removal
Can anyone shed some light on the process of removing and re-installing the headliner in a 123 body with a sunroof? I can tell that you must remove the front & rear pillar covers, as well as the panel above the visors at the windshield, but since these are held in place with concealed fasteners, I cannot tell how to remove them.
Any help will be appreciated, as I am considering a swap of headliner material. Thanks! Robert |

Sure Robert, on my 126, I can tell you there is a hidden screw inside the visor clip itself. At the bottom of my clip, you simply take a flat head screwdriver and pop the little (like 4 mm in length) flap down and inside the clip, you will see a phillips head screw. Keep us posted because I am doing mine soon.

Hey guys!
Hate to throw cold water on a party, but you need to plan to remove front and rear windshields, too....... Headliner is glued to the outside edge of the gakset flange, almost impossible to get it around there and glued down with the gasket in place, or for that matter, to get the old one out without tearing the bit that wraps around off. You can surely try, but I'm afraid you will end up with endless trouble getting it to stay up in the rear corners. Proper installation is to very carefully center healiner, install the bows, glue center front and rear, and work down each side, pulling to fit and glueing as you go. Will have a more complete report in a couple of weeks after we install my brother's in his W115 -- practice for my W108 next year....! Peter Peter
