77' 240d on Ebay
I am currently bidding on this car. What do you guys think? Any input or thoughts? Thanks!

For me, it's already priced at about the maximum I would go.
I think this is being offered by a reseller/dealer of regional auto auctions cars. Since that might be the case, I recommend you get a CarFax report ASAP to see the history. Maybe someone on the ShopForum will help you out - I seem to remember an offer recently - search on CarFax. Also, the part about "this is a Southern rust free car but it has a couple of rust spots behind the rear wheels" sounds like a typical (lying) used car dealer. In the pictures I see rust elsewhere, like in front of the front wheels. If it sat outside the floorboards are probably Flintstoned by now. (like the Flintstone's car, start and stop by using your feet through the bottom) :) Pardon my being negative, I'm just a very skeptical EBay buyer. Ken300D |
I don't think the seller is being perfectly honest, either.
"The Mercedes is a southern rust free car but it has a couple of rust spots behind the rear wheels, and a minor scrape on the lower part of the right front fender." How can the car be "rust free", when it has rust spots behind the rear wheels, and also rust on multiple locations on the trunk lid that are very obvious in the pictures, yet he makes no mention of it. However, it doesn seem to be in awfully good condition for a 26 year old car. It still might be worth $2,000 or so to someone who really values a 240D like this one. |
