P.E.,

The lack of turbo doesn't bother me in the least, it's the lack of a clutch pedal that loses my interest.

Have a great day,

TXBill,
So when is this beauty entering your stables?

Oh, yeah. Buying it at $3500 would break your first rule of MB's.

Since when is the most durable car MB has ever built, and perhaps the most durable car ANYONE has ever built, considered "obsolete"? Anyone who wants a "fast" and/or "modern" car is not going to be shopping for a 4-cyl. diesel, or a diesel of any kind, anyway.

I'd prefer a manual shift also, but if I had the extra $$, I'd buy it right now!

Hahaha...He is laying on the fancy salespitch pretty heavily, isn't he? I've seen/heard worse, though...Sometimes such comments arise out of lack of familiarity with a car's features and what's standard/optional, not always out of intentional deception...but who knows....Looks like a very nice car, anyway.

Hmmm... I OWN this car (or it's production twin, anyhow) and can therefore tell that some of the seller's claims are inflated.

"Special dashboard idle feature" is in reality a standard item, quite necessary to keep the engine running on cold starts. Also, if MB ever put "15 coats of lacquer" on these bodies, I'm betting they wouldn't rust out so fast!! Leather seats on a 240?? (What about the magical disintegrating horsehair padding - is any of it still there?) And what's so special about a 115 car that doesn't even have the factory fog lamps?? To me, this makes the entire presentation suspect, thus BUYER BEWARE!!

There, I feel so much better now...:p

LarryD what you say does put that car into perspective. But you have to admit it is a beautiful 240! Aside from the styling, you wouldn't think it's a 76. Just about everyone's car on here doesn't look its age.

It appears the seller is just trying to hype it up to be more than it really is. But the sheer condition of it is enough of a selling point.

So the factory fog lights were an option then? I think they make the car look better, but I'd still take that car... if I had that cash immediately available to me!

My '76 115 240D did not have the fog lights. Kinda wished it did, as we get foggy mornings around here. Then again, there was so must rust (or places where rust had been-it falls off), not sure if the lights would have stayed put. Had to rig the headlights to keep them in place as it was.
