80 300SD (looking to buy) and 75 240D window regualtor

Hi Folks,
I've got a couple of items here for the group.
1. I am looking at possibly purchaing a 80 300SD that supposedly has a rebuilt motor and tranny with about 100K on them. The car has total 350K on it.
I'm pretty aware of what to check out on a 240 or 300 but know very little about the SD and turbo functions. Are there any particular problems that I should be looking for on this model?
I almost forgot, it has some damage to teh right front fender. Are these bolt ons for this car or welded fenders?
Also if there are any of our Seattle members that would lend me a hand on checking out this car that would be really, really great! I'd hate to drive 6 hours to find out it's a lemon... I just did this last weekend going to Boise and finding out the car was a piece of sh___t!

2. The passenger side window regulator on my 240D has broken. It is the manual crank and the pivot pin sheared off. I found an electric one at a junk yard and was wondering if anyone has tried to convert the electric to manual. Looks kind of like the pattern on the rivets are the same so I thought I might drill our the motor rivets and bolt on the manual crank.
Thoughts?

In the meantime I am using a bolt that keeps the window up but I'm getting tired of telling everyone "Don't roll down that window"!

The driver's door regulator on my 220D was repaired with a bolt. This works fine (I assume the main rivet the sector pivots on is the one you broke) until the bolt comes unscrewed. I got one from the junkyard -- if I get time, I'll try to "rescue" the passenger side one for you.

May be a while, I have to go out of town this weekend.

Thanks PSFRED, No urgency other than mommy not liking her window not rolling up.
I guess it is kind of urgent now that I think about it but what the heck I live in the dog house.......

Fixed mine with a bolt, too. Probably should have put a teflon washer in there, but at least I remembered to use Locktite. First try was with the regulator from the parts car but I didn't like it and went with the bolt. Just don't be like me and put the door panel back on AFTER trying it.
