New to board and a question
Hi all,
I just stumbled across the board and it's good to see that so many are participating. We have a '87 300d turbo that has started to emit a high pitched whine. I believe it must be associated with the turbo as it comes and goes around the 10lb of pressure point, from just below to above that point. It sure would be great to hear of some ideas before I have to take it to the shop. I always feel better going in with my eye's open. Thanks in advance. Glen |

Dont know much about 87 model but on mine 85 300D Turbo, the high pitch sound is associated with fresh air recirculating valve. You will find some past posting under my name MVK regarding this. Many folks disable it. I do that once in a while when I go for a long trip to assure that my cruise work fine. As they somehow share the Vac.
This applies to my car yours might have different reason. Don a search under whisle sound turbo area and that may help you. WELCOME TO THE FAMILY.. MVK MVK

Welcome to the forum. Where in Alaska do you reside? I used to live just outside of Fairbanks in the small town of North Pole from '74 to '76.

Thanks for the replies....
That's a great idea to use the search, I should have started there. I live just outside of Anchorage, in Eagle River. I doubt the family would appreciate the cold weather they have up around Fairbanks. We have over 200,000 miles on the car, we are the second owner and are still very happy with it. I also have a '79 450sl and we have driven both cars up the ALCAN highway. Thats a great trip and you get lots of looks and questions when people see a Mercedes. Glen |
