Would U Buy 95 E300D
Just looked at a 95 300 D 116K. Car looks great inside and out all the gadgets worked no apparent body damage. The only problem noted was when the car was cold. The car started right up fine but when I drove the car the first two times the car shifted from SECOND to THIRD the car would not shift. The only way it would shift was to let off the accelerator pedal and then it shifted. The rest of the gears shifted ok when cold. Upon warm up no other problems were noted. Engine temp was about 85 or so.
I went back and drove the car cold later in the day and there were no problems car ran fine. Price is about 13000. Motor sounded very sweet. I am waiting for a carfax on the car. That might reveal something one way or another. Thanks for your opinions. Paul 1999 E 300 D 85000 miles |

Paul,
I had a '95 E300 and put 140,000 miles on it. It was a great car with few problems. Nice features were the great fuel mileage coupled with the oversized tank. Made for long cruising range. At the mileage of the car you are looking at, you should expect a long life to the car, but as with ANY used car, take it to a good shop for a thorough ceckover. Hope it works out, Steve |

Price sounds fair to me...I have seen those priced in the low teens with that mileage ....and that would mean that it had great records(preferably all from the dealer it was purchased from) and a one owner example
One of the local MB dealers has a few(3-4) of those that they use for loaners/customer drop off cars...told me that in terms of reliability/new features that the 1995 E300 was the best benz he based this on the fact that as a new car...the 1995 E300's they sold had much less shop time and warranty claims. Its the last of the 124's and probably the best...should be a good car You might note that ,if you have looked much) there VERY few of those that don't have ungodly mileage...so people bought them for the highway I think Warren 1992 300SD 151K Columbus Ohio |
