Help! Rear Passenger side window won't go up all the way up!

I put the windows down to get some air and the rear window won't go all the way up. It goes down and up but stops at about an inch from the top. The window is now slow to move up. Bad regulator??? If it is, can I somehow manually put the window up and then disconnect the motor?

PLEASE HELP! This car is parked outside, I need to get this window up before it snows or rains!!!

If it is remotely like my W123

Window regulator is bad. My front passenger side is bad.......

Try this............

Sit in the rear seat......push the up button on the power window while you and someone on the outside of the car put your palms flat on the window, one on the inside, one on the outside, and push it up. Spit on your palms and rub them together, like you are in the on deck circle, this will help.

I had to do that tonight on my W123 after my wife decided she HAD to have a cigarette, and she let her window down, the one that was broken. We had to use the procedure above to close the window. I guess I'll put in my new/used regulator tomorrow.

I know our car's are much different, but since it appeared to be an emergency, I thought I would weigh in.

Good luck,

JCD

Thanks for the quick reply! I tried what you said before I posted the question, I should have added that in there. I got it to move about a 1/4 inch and it won't go anyfurther. I think I have to open the door up tomorrow and move the window closed on my own. Does it stay closed on its own? Or will I have to somehow secure it.

I had the same on mine. Pull the door cover, and look at the regulator where the window and up and down track are. That somewhat inch or two wide assembly has a cover "like" on the back side. If the rivets have worked loose, just take the regulater out and bend the cover back over and the window will now go up.

If the cover is the problem, the all the force in the world will NOT let you put your window up by hand.

Hope this helps.

Mike

I believe this window problem can be averted if at the 15 year service the door panels are removed and the windows are well lubricated(baby powder on the rubber), cleaned and adjusted for easy operation. I know this maintenance benefits a Saab, Mercedes should be no different.

md2433, you are exactly correct. The rivets came loose. In the process of trying to move it back to the correct position I broke a plastic clip. But I removed the window from the regulator and was able to get everything the way it should be. I rolled the window up all the way and unplugged the switch in the door, rendering the motor unusuable.

So I need a new window regulator. A new one is 180-200 bucks (depending on who you go with). I may hunt around junk yards this week since I am off.

Thanks for the help guys! You were right on.
