190D Glow Plug "How To Help Needed"
OK, thanks to ALL the help from you fine people. Now that I have found out why my baby will glow sometimes and sometimes not, "bad GP's" now the question is HOW THE HECK do I get in there to replace them? PLEASE.
I have removed the air box, and that did not give me much more room to get to them. Any Help will be met with a BIG THANKS. Mike 190D 85 240D 79 240D 74 |

It is relatively EZ, I remove anything and nearly everything that is in my way ! Mini bungee cords are really nice for this...First to go is the solid fuel pipe assembly - EZ with decent metric wrenches, but you may need some fitting wrenches.
Tis very important to keep things clean, as I work, I plug or cover openings.Don't forget to test them beforehand - develope a good process , 50,000 miles down the road, history may repeat itself. And the anti-seize - wonderful stuff.

On the 60x engine especially the 601, it is easiest if you take out the air filter and the air filter housing. They are pretty easy to remove if you use a socket and a universal joint.
