Speedometer needle comes and goes...
My speedometer needle works fine most of the time, but after a halt it will for no good reason lay dead until I reach about 50 kph (35 mph?), when it will jump up and start working again. This happens regardless of temperature, bumps in the road, turns etc.
I thought I had a loose wire somewhere, but my odometer runs fine all the time... Has anyone experienced this? |

Yes, mine does the same thing. Mine started after I took it out and bent the needle out from the bezel, which it was contacting at about 65 mph. When I reinstalled, I have the current phenomon. Don't know how to fix it....

Probably time to send it off for repair. I think I know what is wrong, but I'd not attempt the fix myself, too much chance of completely buggering it up.
Most likely the magent is loose or the pivot is dirty, (speedos are magnetic influence devices -- a spinning magnet pulls the needle against a spring), but it doesn't take much damage or "bentness" in the guts to make them inoperative. Peter
