83 240 D described below. Is this engine shot with most probability? Why did oil pressure drop, what was rotational rattling sound? HOW COULD A MERCEDES DO THIS?

How many thousand miles?? I have seen them break from time to time. Ususally due to oil pump failure or debris in the oil . Like stray silicone or metal.
Yes the engine is toast.
Mercedes offers a crate motor for the 240 i think.
