My first road trip!

Well, I acted against my own advice and took the 300D on a road trip, about 550 miles total over three days. I realized that I had been babying the car a bit too much, and also that its in better shape than I thought and seems to do better after a long drive at highway speed.

I drove for the most part between 70 and 90, and it was just great. I even messed with some newer 300D's (mine's an 84) for fun. Anyway, what a perfect car.

After arrival, I drove some friends in it and it seemed so much faster! Maybe I blew out the injectors a bit or something. Anyway, what a great car.

I can't wait to get my 300D on a road trip...I have taken my 300SD on two 3K trips to Key West and one to Canada.I have a week of vacation time that I will use soon....as the weather gets colder. All this with over 300K on it. Just be prepared for little things and buy AAA Plus. I agree...these are great cars. See you on the road!!!!!

Orkrist,
I noticed my 84 ran better after a few hours on the road. I just put 3200 on mine and I don't think its ever run better. We saw very few 123's on the trip and then only near the cities.

Heck, I took my 300D on a road trip the day I bought it. All the way from Texas to California. Didn't even hiccup...had to replace an injector return hose and the air filter, and discovered that Lake Daimler isn't a dry lake (still not completely fixed), but she drove beautifully... Only a couple minor problems since.

Ironically, my 300D is the newest vehicle I've owned, and at the same time the one with the most miles. It is also, to date, the most trouble-free...and people say that Benzes are troublesome and expensive to repair...pfft!
