How to remote start an 83 240D?

Its my hope to remote start the car, but the Glow Plug cycle has me a little confused. Does anyone have any ideas?

Not such a good idea..

once I woke upand found my car parked funny. Turns out my 13 year old daughter would take it for a spin at 2 am in the morning when I was asleep..she never went on main roads, just the shopping center behind our development....

I'm suprised she would even want to drive a diesel. Girls and diesels are like rotella and MB anti-freeze.

Carrameow, OK...lets not throw out this originally smart alex idea.... because it means she DOES know how to start the car... you just need a method to keep it from MOVING when she starts it... how about one of those locking tire clamps which the parking police use......? I think this is a workable straight forward solution compared to trying to rig up a safe remote starter for your car....she can be trained to recognize things which should cause a change in operations.. like the battery being weak ... and not just run it down to nothing...think about it...

LOL, these solutions are great! She must be a real "pistol" to go cruising on the parking lot at 2:00 in the morning. What spunk!

Back to the original question. If you do this, you will have to keep in mind that the ignition switch, in addition to its regular electrical function, actuates a vacuum valve for the shut off.

To accomplish this, you will need some sort of electrically actuated valve to handle the vacuum shutoff function of starting the car.

Good luck,

Tried and couldn't

A shop tried to get my E300D to remote start for a day and a half, they tried many different things and finally gave up. I did get a remote entry though that is good enough for me!

BestOluck on your efforts. Keep us posted as to how you overcome the technical issues.

A remote entry ? How does that work ? You can enter your car from like a 100 yards away ? If you are close enough to put your leg into the doorway why not just use the original keyhole ?
Capt Kirk had the only real remote entry when he told Scotty " Beam me up ".....
