Synthetic P/S and Diff lube?

I would like to fully synthetic-ize my 84' 300D. I have had great results with other vehicles using synthetic ATF in the PS systems and synthetic gear lube in the rear diffs. Can synthetic ATF (mobil1,amsoil, etc.) be used in MB steering boxes? Any recommendations for rear diff lube? I have used Mobil1, Royal Purple, and Amsoil in the past with good results. I just ordered the shop manuals so I apologize for asking basic questions.... Thanks, RT

Ditto on the RedLine in the diff. It may be my imagination but it seemed to run quieter after I converted. I have no economic interest here but I'm also a fan of their syn crankcase oil made just for diesels.

Exclamation

I just changed my 83 300D over to all Amsoil synthetics. I used the Series 2000 75W-90 in the rear diff and synthetic ATF in the transmission and power steering system.

For the engine I mixed (4) quarts of the HDD 15W-40 with (4) quarts of the Series 3000 HDD 5W-30. At 224K miles I did not want to run straight 5W-30 in the MB as I do in my Powerstroke diesel F350. No oil leaks and the car has started MUCH easier in the single digit temperatures the last 5 mornings here in Michigan.

Not trying to sell anyone on Amsoil, but I have used it quite successfully in all my gas engines and diesels over the last 4 years.
