Well after reading some posts on water leaks in 123 cars I went looking for the drains on my 84'300D today just to make sure they were clear. I figured I would share what I found and maybe it would help someone who is frustrated. I could only find 4 drains under the hood. There were two curved plastic tubes coming out of the cowl area of the firewall and pointing down on each side of the engine. Maybe 1 1/2" in diameter and 5" long, they sorta ended in a "duckbill". I assume that they drain the cowl area. They were not clogged. Next I checked under the hood hinges/springs. There was some crud which I scraped loose and vacuumed out. The hinge area drains into another small @1" hole directly beneath it. This drain emptied into the fender/wheelwell and was protected by a small cylindrical plastic "half barrel" about the size of a C-cell battery that is part of the wheelwell liner. One of my "half barrels" was completely plugged with sediment and the other was clear. I found it was fairly easy to clear even the drain by the battery using a long stiff piece of plastic tubing. I then checked the sunroof drains. First I tried feeding a length of aquarium tubing down the front drains to clear any obstructions and see where it came out. The tubing hung up somewhere at the bottom of the A-pillar. I used a syringe to inject water into the front drains and it came out at the bottom very rear of the front fender where it meets the door. I couldn't really see the drain opening but since they both seemed to work well I assume this is how it is meant to work. I was unable to see the rear sunroof drains so I squirted water to the rear of the internal drip rails with the syringe. The water drained out at the bottom of the C-pillar trim piece right where the rear door/"triangle" glass bottom rear junction is. I assume this is normal as both sides did it and drained very well. Hope this helps someone, if I missed something, let me know please. RT
