300SDL flaky cruise and shifting

I think I have an intermitent vacuum problem.

I used the cruise on a hilly freeway today to see if it surges. It didn't surge but once it cut out and almost sent me into the steering wheel.

Also, sometimes the low speed shifts are bone jarring and sometimes they're smooth. The high speed shifts are always okay or maybe there's just less of a difference.

I haven't checked to see if the AC gets flaky as another check of the vacuum system.

I don't feel a difference in how the brakes feel at any time and it shuts down as I expect every time.

Could one of the vacuum amplifiers be bad?

Thanks,
Sixto

Sixto, I think you have two different problems. Our car did the same thing as yours. The cruise started to surge then it would cut out. It turned out to be the cruise amplifier. Under the dash above pedals.

Read the other post on the vacuum to trans.

Also if you go for the cruise amplifier, look around , you can buy them remanufactued.

Good luck!!
