W124 Low Oil idiot light
The low oil idiot light on my 124 frequently goes on briefly when I take left hand turns at some speed. The oil is topped up so I presume the oil is sloshing to the right side of the engine and tripping the float which is on the left side of the engine. I once heard that there was a delay circuit built in that kept the idiot light from going on unless the sending unit was uncovered for 10-15 seconds. Is this true? If so anyone know where the delay device is located and how I might fix it? I know, I know it's a pretty minor problem but I'm anal and like everything to work as designed. Hey, it's a lot cheaper than paying for therapy.

My 87300tdt has the same situation. On closer inspection, I noticed that if the oil level is even a smidge below the full line, the
oil level light will come on at speed, but never driving around town. I mean less than a half-quart low. I guess it is a very effective way of letting you know something is up way before any damage happens. I was in the middle of Texas in a B-210 at 2 A.M. in the summer and the first indication that I was low on oil was when the oil pressure light came on at 75 MPH. What a shock that was. If I had only had that annoying, sensitive little warning system! Steve |

It's just about the best feature of the car.
Should be required by law on all cars sold in USA. My light comes on well before oil is at the "ADD" line. Ken300D |
