123 sunroof drain exit location
 

In tracing a lake of water in my rear passenger footwell, I have been pouring water into the front passenger sunroof drain.

The water seems to be exiting from behind the hinge.

Does this seem right?

I was thinking that it drained into the engine compartment drain that exits to the front wheel well (the hinge drain also feeds into that same wheel well drain).

None of the hood hinge, front wheel well, front or back sunroof, or behind the wheel drains are plugged, and I am having a challenge finding out where this could be coming from.

I also found a leaking tube in the passenger foot well that connected the door jamb and part of the ventilation system. I reconnected it better, so maybe that will stop my lake from growing.

Yes the water coming out of the fender/door hinge area is normal. Are your rear drains functioning? They should drain out at the bottom of the C-pillar trim piece (on a sedan). The tube on the HVAC system you mention maybe your problem. I believe thats the drain for the AC system. Maybe the rear window gasket? RT

actually i'm having the same problem. all my drains are clear and
it seems to be there's bad seal on the driver's side where the windshield abuts the "rain gutter." just haven't had time to pull
the trim off to get a good look and seal it up.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE REAR DRAINS ON A WAGON SHOULD COME OUT ??

Rear louvers that are on the rain gutters. At the rear, there are openings which the water comes out.

99% water in the passenger floor is NOT due to a sunroof leak. It's a very common misconseption. Clean all the drains. Check the sunroof drains... #1 is a bad front windshield seal, # debris in hinge areas, ... rust hole under battery box.... lots of things, but I've never had a sunroof tube clogged.

Of course, I don't store my cars under trees either=0)

Remove the battery and tray and ensure that there are no rust holes in that area.

I had a very cracked sunroof seal on the older of my two cars, I replaced it and there was no change in my massive leakage (a couple of gallons per day during the rainy season).

Mine was the windshield, along with minor contributions from the hood hinge area. Fortunately I had no rust through in the battery area.

There is also an area under the wipers that goes into a drain area that should drain to the engine compartment. That box looking compartment just under the louver looking thing, has a a sealant in it. If the sealant has deteriorated it can leak to the area beside it causing water to get inside the cabin.
