Rear window go bye bye!?!
 

My rear window on my '85 300D exploded last night driving back to college. I go to school in northern NY so needless to say the rear defroster is always on. Any suggestions on trying to find a used one compared to brand new? Is this common for the glass to fail on the older models?

Make some calls to your local recycler. Used is the way to go. The rear window doesn't suffer all the scratches and nicks like on the windshield so get a used one.

I have heard allot of differant ways to loose glass but thats a new one on me. Most commen way around here is deer or flying rocks in winter, you must have incountered a rock with your name on it. :eek:

billrok is right, a used one is the way to go. I called a yard in Seattle a couple of weeks ago to inquire about one for a 123 , it was $100.00 which is high i think. They couldn't ship it tho

I lost a rear window same way in an 84 300D. I put the defroster on and the rear glass exploded like it was shot. Cold wet day in the fall.

You are lucky that you don't have a coupe, the glass for those is about $1,000.
