Pic of my (kinda) new Merc Diesel...

here's a pic for anyone interested of my recently aquired '94 E300D estate/wagon. A bit dirty as it spends half it's life in the countryside, but you get the idea... (my mum is the figure in the back)

Chazola,

Nice ride. I wish we could get 1994/5 E300D Wagons (Estates) in the U.S.

sadly not, it's the standard 4-speed auto (although I hear the manual's around this time were pretty clunky anyway, so maybe not a bad thing). It seems the manual transmissions are more common on the older (pre '90's) diesels and sometimes you see them on the lower-powered petrol models (E200/220).

It is a fairly basic european spec; no leather, no A/C, manual seats (the horror!) steel wheels (upgrading to alloys soon) but I really like the 606 engine and it's been great for hauling stuff around.

- I like the idea of basic equipment, less things to go wrong. In Poland, we drove cars that were reallly basic. Some only had power assisted brakes, no power steering Even a brand new jetta diesel that my dad brought from Canada back in 92, had no options

You mentioned that you want to get rid of your steel rims. Right now I am looking for some steelies to use em as my winter wheels. Too bad we live so far apart.
