Primer Pump for 240D

Someone suggested in an earlier post that I need to replace the primer pump on my 82 240D because when I pump it it leaks fuel. I just did a search on fastlane for it & the one they came up with looks COMPLETELY different from what is on my car. The one on there now is a milky white flat round knob that I unscrew & pump then screw back down. The one on fastlane is black, long & round & the rest of it looks completely different also. Can someone help me out with this? I want to get the right part.

Thanks!

That is the right one on Fastlane - it has been updated - there ain't no more screwing necessary which is a good thing.

Do I need the full assembly or just the pump?

Greg &/or Bill,
Do you need to add a new gasket or anything other than the pump?
Any experiences with the rebuild kit?

I just bought the pump and it came with a copper washer too, which fits between the pump and the 'fitting' that connects it and the injection pump.

I just bought the pump and it doesn't leak from that area anymore..

So I take it that I just need the pump and not the whole assembly?

yeah just the pump. but I could be wrong... wait for more experienced people to chime in

Good luck!

BTW, I was also wondering if I needed the assembly too. Glad I didn't buy the assembly. It would've been a waste of money.

Just purchase the pump. The old one screws out and the new one screws in....very simple and no leaks or source of air getting sucked into the fuel delivery system.
