It seems logical that the SDL would have the SLS if the SEL and the SEC had it. That the SDL didn't surprises me.

They didn't for the very same reason that unlike the SEC and SEL, the Diesel W126ers came with Zebrano, and not Burlwood, interior trim; a driver's side airbag, and not a driver AND passenger side airbag; no standard sunroof on them; no standard electric rear seats, or heated front seats; etc.

The Diesels and 6 cylinder gassers were considered "cheaper" on many levels.

The SEC/SEL were the flagship cars. They came "loaded".
