Shift knob compatibilty
Will a shift knob for an '88 260E auto tranny work on an '84 300TD? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Nope....

I think the R107 (SL) uses the same shift knob as the W123 though.

Your 260E is a W124 and the 300TD is a W123.

Correct, part number for shift knobs on W123, W116, and R107's is 123-267-04-10 and part number for a W124 shift knob is 201-267-02-10.
