How many miles have you gone or seen

Last sunday I looked at the dash of my neighbor's visiters car. She said that it was a high mile '87SDL. Now this car looks beautiful, the only flaw I saw was a bit of paint blister on the rear wheel well. 634,430 miles. Now I know that's no record but I'm impressed.

Now, I know others of you have cars with many more miles and have seen cars with way more. Please lets hear about it. I've searched the prior posts and just couldn't find that top miler.

Regards,

RandyR

In 1996 the Star magazine had a high mileage issue. I did not know about it before it came out, so I did not get to submit.

In that survey, the car you saw would have been about 10th or so among those who submitted mileage. There were about 100 in the list.

My 240D has seen 533,000 miles. That, I believe, easily puts it in the top 10%. At that time, the high mileage record holding car in the Guinnes Book of World Records was a MB 190D from the late fifties.

After driving an iron engine diesel MB to what I consider to be high mileage, over 600,000 miles does not surprise me at all. The engines rebuild well, and the rest of the car is built well enough that there is something left to put a new engine into.

Have a great day,

Very impressive!

In all honesty, the highest mileage MB diesel's i've seen in person have been 300SDL's.

300SDL - 335,000 - For sale locally
300SDL - 350,000 - In livery service
87 300TD - 367,000 - In my mechanic's parking lot
300SDL - 370,000 - In my mechanic's parking lot
85 300D - 472,000 - Mine
300SDL - 502,000 - eBay
300SDL - 830,000 - Friend spotted this car for sale in VA, I have the pictures.

With my own eyes was a 1983 240D with 310,000 mi. I wanted to buy it but the dealer wanted too much for it (The interior was badly worn). The body was repainted. The engine fired right up after the glow light went off (it was a really cold day)

second would be turbodiesel's 300SDL.

Most people think my car has too many miles hahaha wait til they see me get a 500k mi. 240D

The highest milage I've personally seen is a 300SD with 525,000 on it -- one owner, has never had the head off, runs like new, was in the shop for a routine oil change....

My 83 300SD has 305,000m and still running fine.

Yeah, I'm from Worcester.
I would have seen everyone at the GTG last week had it not been for some other engagements. Hope to meet the Easterners again soon.

I had a 1987 190 2.6. Put 450,000 before trading it in on the 1987 300D.

Not on an M-B, but I've heard multiple reports of Dodge Cummins trucks breaking the 1 million mark

All I can say is my car's a baby by comparison!!
