Windshield Gasket Replacement + Defrost

Anyone know of a detailed set of instructions for replacing the winshield gasket on a W123?
Is there a way to have new defroster wires silkscreened onto the rear window or does the whole thing need to be replaced? Is there a source for new rear windows w/defroster? I tested the connections, driver's side rear after unscrewing the connection I am getting 12V between the two wires. When I tested for continuity from the drivers side connector to the passenger side connection I got ziltch. I can hear the relay click underneath the dash and the indicator lamp stays lit for 20 to 30 mins so I think all that is OK. The wires or whatever it is in the glass look very very thin and quite possibly totally worn away. I have a bad feeling someone's gonna tell me I'm looking a a $1000.00 piece of glass here.
Thanks.

You are looking at $ 2000 worth of glass....

Just kidding... there used to be a 'kit' which consisted of cleaner, tape and a spray on conductive material... it may be much easier to find the break in the connection and fix it than to start from scratch...

Several people have replaced their 123 back glass seal... and someone was having a pro come to their house and promised to watch and quiz the pros the best they could.... maybe a search would find those people...
