'97 E300... Check Engine Electronics light

On my way to class today at an intersection my check engine lamp came on. It has been really really cold here this past week and a half. My E hasn't been running any differently or anything. I unscrewd the fuel cap, I heard sometimes there is a bad seal or pressure imbalances from this frigide weather. But I did notice some white frost all over the cap. I've been using the Stanadyne Performance formula the last few tanks too. I used some WD-40 and cleaned off the fuel cap and the rubber seal and the lip of the fuel neck to ensure a good seal, just to make sure. Anyone ever heard of cold weather conditions causing the check engine light? I'm going in in a week to have the ECU read for what fault code(s) I am getting anyway...

Miraculously this evening the check engine dissapeared.
MAS = MAF?
