Can anyone give us some history on that model engine. It doesn't look like any of the auto diesels. Is that the kind of engine found in the 508's etc?

Unimog 416/406 engines
Certainly are not out of a sedan! Those are stinky ol OM352's. I have one in my Unimog 416 Doka. Six cylinder, 5.9L(?), 110Hp.
I would like to know how they know if the cores are rebuildable or not without opening one up.

Probably the most common use of these engines in the US is on over the road refrigeration units found in refrigerated trailers for hauling perishable goods.
Have a great day, |
